For me the seminar helped legitimize an age old saying, "practice makes perfect". It doesn't matter if its a fundamental movement like the squat or attempting to master something as complex as the snatch, it takes practice - lots of it. After reading a recent 324 post I was reminded of the importance of the basics. I want to be sure my fundamental movements are being performed perfectly before getting too caught up in some of the more complex olympic lifts. Yesterday was good and I think we all learned something that will help us to be more proficient, but each day that we step into The Shop to take on the white board, it's the fundamentals that are going to make or break each and every one of us.
Trickle, 211 and climbing unless I get under control. AM - row for 30 min PM - run 5+ miles, trails
FYI - drag factor of 100 = between 2 & 3 on the damper setting. Doing that for 500m sucked. I would have fallen off the machine if I tried it for 1500m
Thanks for letting me know about the weightlifting thing I definitely got some solid advice on the kettlebells which all i had before was basically self taught. I always enjoy getting my lifts critiqued and it was alot of fun for me. Anyway, awesome gym especially the pull up setup and all the heavy kettlebells the 100lb cannonball was nuts. Hopefully there's more gym competitions and wods in the future:) later
Jerell - Thanks for coming and please tell David and Emily the same. You guys are always welcome and we hope to do more in the future as well. I'm sure we'll be having a Summer Games here at the Shop - more info to follow soon. Stay in touch.

been wanting to run for a while now - never had that desire before, ever. not in my whole life.
ReplyDeletetop to bottom:
1.6 mile run
1:00 rest
50 pushups for time
2:00 rest
1.6 mile run
1:00 rest
50 pushups for time
first run: 14:15 (slow but intentional)
first 50 pushups: 0:48
second run: 13:05 (gave it about all i had)
second 50 pushups: 0:45
both pushup sets were unbroken
here's something to ponder...
why is it that i preferred running on the muddy shoulder vs. the clean road? can you say, trail run withdrawal???
hope everyone is ready for a TOUGH week
Jerell
