  2. Your link is from 2004. Gym Jones was an official CrossFit affiliate then. I wish he was still programming like that. I've often gone into his archives from that time period to get WODs. There are some GREAT ones.

  3. i wonder what really happened, that convinced him to request the removal of his box from the list of xfit affiliates.

    don't get me wrong. i don't think he's an idiot. back in the beginning i loved the gj website; i actually had fun trying to decipher the WODs, so i could try them. i just don't understand his claims that xfit doesn't work. as far as i'm concerned, the results, that thousands of people are seeing (myself included), speak for themselves. you could sit around all day and scrutinize things like range of motion, proximity of equipment during a circuit, etc.. but, in the end, you wouldn't be getting much done.

    i'm attracted to xfit because of the simplicity. the website is free, and the journal (which contains knowledge from trainers, doctors, nutritionists from all over the world) is only $25/year!! twight wants people to pay $1000/year. and for that, what are you getting? more of his "knowledge"?

    xfit cuts through the bullshit, and tells you "what's up". and it works. i think twight knows this; his ego or pride just won't let him admit it.

    in the end:

    xfit = fact
    gymjones = yeah? well, ya know that's just, like you're opinion, man.

  4. I think there was disputes between Twight and Glassman and maybe others. The affiliate was removed at the request of Twight, then he published the Gym Jones workout manual and sold it to the government for training soldiers. I tincluded the crossfit ideas and then he copyrighted it, basically claiming crossfit principles was his property. He then got his affiliate relisted while setting up his own website, and again asked it to be removed. It can be read about here http://library.crossfit.com/free/pdf/CFJ_Berger_InsideGymJones.pdf, and there are links to Twight writing about it from there as well. Not really sharing my opinions on the matter, because I basically don't care. Some believe it to be ego driven and elitist, Twight has said that the random workouts caused a plateau in himself and other athletes and needed improvement. Others argue that it was himself doing the programming for the workouts that may have burnt himself out. I just enjoy reading the articles posted by Twight and love reading the xfit main site too. I know that what we are doin has helped me out out immensely physically and psychologically. Thanks go to Clint for opening my eyes to Gym Jones, which led me to the Crossfit site and the lifestyle I enjoy today.
